Employers must now get accredited to hire migrants on an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). Employers must pay at least the NZ median wage, and show that they cannot find suitable New Zealanders first unless the role is on an exemption list.
The Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme allows employers within the horticulture and viticulture industries to recruit a capped number of workers from the Pacific for seasonal work in New Zealand.
